Postpartum Doula Support

There is rarely a shortage of people offering to hold the baby.
But what about you? New parents need to be nurtured, too.

I will make sure you get what you need to feel well. Rest. Nourishing food. Tools and encouragement to heal your body. A listening ear. During our visit, I will work with you to get your needs met, whatever they are that day, and hopefully set you up so that you feel better-resourced well after I leave.

During a postpartum doula visit, I might: troubleshoot reasons for fussiness and suggest some soothing strategies; help you figure out swaddles, pacifiers, or other baby gear that has you confused; Check in on your physical healing and suggest tools or resources as needed; Set up a comfortable feeding station so all your hydration and snacking needs are within easy reach; Hold your baby so you can shower, nap, or eat a hot meal (ideally all three!); Check in on how you are feeling emotionally and validate whatever feelings are coming up.

Includes text/email check ins between sessions. Sessions and packages can be scheduled during pregnancy or the early postpartum period.

Lactation Home Visits

The earliest days of lactation can be so intense, and leaving your home for appointments feels overwhelming. During your home visit, we will weigh your baby, discuss how feeding is going so far and troubleshoot challenges. Pep talks are my specialty! When your visit is over, you’ll feel encouraged, uplifted, and equipped. Written feeding plan provided, and text support is available for up to three weeks after your visit.

Home visits are provided through my other business baby, Maine Mother + Company. I collaborate closely with Paula Norcott, IBCLC, and refer complex cases directly to her as needed.

Sessions and packages can be scheduled during pregnancy or the early postpartum period.

Postpartum Planning

What would it be like to approach your due date feeling confident about the support you’ll receive once your baby arrives? To spend your maternity leave focused on your baby, not feeling anxious about going back to work?

You don’t have to figure this out on your own!

I will help you plan for your next transition in parenthood so you can save your energy and attention for yourself and your baby. If you are pregnant, planning for the first month or two postpartum can make all the difference, ensuring you have the support and resources you need and that your expectations align with reality.

We’ll discuss physical healing, maximizing the setup of your home, managing household tasks, and typical newborn eating and sleeping patterns. If you are on maternity leave, I can help you plan for your return to work, including a pumping schedule if you are breastfeeding, balancing competing priorities, and sharing household responsibilities with your partner.

We’ll meet in person or virtually for 90 minutes to discuss your hopes for your fourth trimester, and discuss actions you can take to prepare. You will also receive an email that recaps our time together and includes any note or reminders.

Sessions and packages can be scheduled during pregnancy or the early postpartum period.

Kind Words

“I feel really fortunate to have had Nicole's support virtually. As a first time mom giving birth in a global pandemic, my options for support were limited, and we'd seen one virtual consultant already who had not been helpful. Nicole provided the guidance we needed.”

— Catherine

“Nicole met my twin boys exactly one week after they were born, and her clear-eyed, pragmatic, and insightful advice was life-saving.”

— Kelly, mom of twins
